Christopher Thompson Chantry Park murder: Two guilty - BBC News

A man and a woman have been found guilty of murdering "a kind-hearted son" whose body was found in a park.

The body of 35-year-old Christopher Thompson was found in Chantry Park in Ipswich last November.

Christopher Wilson, 34, and Deanna Stanton, 27, both of no fixed abode, were found guilty of his murder by a jury at Ipswich Crown Court.

They will be sentenced next Monday. Det Insp Kevin Hayward said the "level of physical violence was extreme".

'Absolutely senseless'

Wilson and Stanton had blamed each other for the murder.

Elizabeth Thompson, Mr Thompson's mother, said: "He was not a violent man.

"He was a kind-hearted son who cared about his family and others who were worse off than him.

"Chrissy would have loved to have had a family of his own. But this opportunity was taken away from him and I do not have any grandchildren to help remember him by.

"We are in shock and cannot believe another human being could do this to Chrissy, it is absolutely senseless. The suffering he would have endured haunts us to this day."
