Police: Couple in Cottage Grove Murder-Suicide Had History of Domestic Violence - KSTP.com

Authorities are investigating after a man fatally shot his wife, and then himself at Jimmy John's in Cottage Grove Thursday.

According to police, 22-year-old Tensia Richard was working out inside Anytime Fitness.

Police believe her husband Chevel Richard called her outside and started shooting at her, shattering the glass door.

Tensia Richard ran inside Jimmy John's for safety. Chevel Richard shot and killed her inside the sandwich shop.

Tensia and Chevel were legally married, but were separated. They have two little boys together, a 3-year-old and a 3-month-old.

According to the Cottage Grove Police Department, Tensia had left Chevel and was planning to file for divorce.

This isn't the couple's first violent encounter. Chevel was arrested in June of 2011 for domestic abuse.

Tensia had filed for a restraining order back in June of 2011. But, for some reason the restraining order was dismissed two month's later.

The couple's children are staying with Tensia's parents.
