A Windham high school student faces multiple drug charges after police on Wednesday said they found heroin packaged for sale on the 16-year-old, along with more drugs and a gun at his residence.
David Mangual, of 49 Brook St., was arrested after an investigation by a school resource officer and staff, Willimantic police said. He was found with glassine bags filled with heroin packaged for street-level sale, police said. He also possessed a "significant amount" of money on his person, police said.
After Mangual's arrest and transfer to a juvenile detention facility, adult probation officers searched his basement apartment and found more heroin, drug paraphernalia and a loaded weapon. Mangual, a convicted felon who is on probation, said the drugs and gun belonged to him, police said.
He was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell near a school, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of narcotics near a public housing complex, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal possession of a firearm.
He is being held on a $150,000 bond. His court date wasn't available.
