Roughly 40,000 attended the Beyond Wonderland concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View over the weekend, but as of Sunday, there had been no major medical emergencies reported, according to the San Jose Mercury News.
Mountain View Police Lt. Chris Hsiung told the paper that most of those arrested were charged with furnishing or using illegal drugs such as Ecstasy, LSD and the stimulant GHB.
Illicit drug use has come under greater scrutiny in the wake of the overdose deaths of rave fans across the country.
The last day of the large Electric Zoo rave in New York City was canceled earlier this month after two attendees died, apparently from Ecstasy overdoses. At least four others became critically ill and were hospitalized.
A Los Angeles Times investigation published in February found that at least 14 people who attended raves produced by two firms -- Insomniac Inc. and Go Ventures Inc. -- since 2006 died from overdoses or in other drug-related incidents.
Hsiung told the Mercury News that the goal of police operations at the rave in Mountain View was to intercept as many drugs as possible to keep the concert safer.
"We're just happy and thankful that it's continued to be a safe operation," he said.
Three years ago, two people died of overdoses at a Memorial Day rave in Daly City, according to the newspaper.
Mountain View police also arrested some people over the weekend for public drunkenness and others wanted on outstanding warrants, Hsiung said.
