The Opelika Police Department closed out an operation into the sale of illegal narcotics Wednesday with the arrest of 13 individuals, all of whom live in Opelika.

The operation lasted around five months.

"It sends a message that if you are dealing drugs, you are going to get caught," Opelika police Capt. Bruce DeLong said.

He said the arrests are big for the city.

"Any time you get drug dealers off the street it is good thing," DeLong said.

Getting 13 off at one time is sure to make a big impression, he added.
