Deve Gowda flays obscene protest over - Deccan Herald

Former prime minister and?Janata Dal (Secular) supremo H D Deve Gowda regretted that politics in the present has become vulgar.

He was speaking after presenting 'Dejagow literary awards' instituted by Mukhyaprana Samskruthika Academy (2010-11 and 2011-12) on Wednesday to ex-vice chancellor of Kuvempu University K Chidananda Gowda and deputy director of Karnataka Police Academy Dharani Devi Malagatti.

Gowda flayed the obscene way followed by the youth to protest against Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalitha.

He repeatedly warned government to be aware against the happenings of Cauvery issue. He said government has the responsibility of preventing severe crisis and also take appropriate measures to protect interests of farmers in the State.

Elaborating on the drought, he said, six districts neighbouring Mysore were still under influence of drought and had severe drinking water problem.

But still it was the duty of citizens to respect judicial directions. "It is always discussed in parliament that people of Karnataka did not respect judiciary. Government should intellectually solve the problem."

Writer and ex-vice chancellor of University of Mysore D Javare Gowda said that Kannada language is richest as history denotes that there are more than three thousand writers in the language. Worst part is they are not remembered and honoured. "For instance Basavanna is orphaned in our country."

Writers C P Krishna Kumar, Malali Vasanth Kumar, vice chancellor of Karnataka State Open University K S Rangappa, former mayor and chairman of Vidya Vikas Educational Institution Vasu, president of Srushti Organisation M V Ramu Murthy, president of Mukyaprana Samskruthi Academy M N Vijaya Venkatesh, Dr M G R Urs and others were present.
