Pharmacist arrested for drug use, sale - Khaleej Times

The Dubai Police have arrested a pharmacist who allegedly possessed and promoted narcotic pills and seized large quantities of various tablets from him.

Major-General Abdul Jalil Mahdi, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics of the  Dubai Police, said that a young Arab man, who worked as a pharmacist, abused his career to involve in drug issues.

He said that the department had received information that the man in his 30s, possessed, used and distributed narcotics to his customers from the pharmacy where he worked at. The police set a trap and arrested the suspect red-handed on September 21 in International City.

"After receiving a tip-off from a reliable informant about the pharmacist, we carried out an investigation."

Mahdi said that the police team kept surveillance on the suspect and he was spotted parking his car near a grocery in the Dubai International City. The police said he was waiting for a customer.

The police searched his car and his residence in International City. In his flat, the police found eight types of narcotic drugs and 2,194 pharmaceutical tablets.

During the police interrogation, he confessed that he went to the place where he was arrested to give pills to one customer. He also added that he had a number of clients and was providing them with narcotics for a long period.

The suspect told the police that he used to steal narcotic pills from the pharmacy and then stored those in his flat. He admitted to the police that he also used some of these drugs. Medical tests at the Forensic Laboratory of the Dubai Police proved that he used to abuse large quantities of drugs continuously.
