Police arrested two men wanted on warrants in cooperation with troopers assigned to the Mass. State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Team Thursday, Oct. 11, and netted two additional drug arrests in the process.
Police said the police teams went to two different locations at 6:30 a.m.
Mark Gomes, 47, of 7 Trout Farm Way, was arrested at the first location on three outstanding warrants on larceny charges and the charge of possession of a firearm. At the time of his arrest, Gomes was found to be in possession of approximately three ounces of marijuana in plastic baggies, and was charged with possession of a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute.
At 5 Camardo Drive, detectives and officers located 25-year-old Christian Fernandes, who was arrested for warrants pertaining to charges of unarmed robbery and operating after license suspension. Further investigation revealed several items of drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale and plastic sandwich bags, four of which contained marijuana. Police said a further search led to the discovery of 117 small plastic baggies containing cocaine, an Oxycodone pill, and more than an ounce of marijuana located in separate baggies. Sabria Chytrus, 20, and 23-year-old Thomas Tavares III, were also arrested at the scene.
All three were charged with possession with intent to distribute a class B substance (cocaine), possession with intent to distribute a class D substance (marijuana), possession of a class B substance (cocaine), and possession of a class B substance (Oxycodone), as well as possession of a class D substance (marijuana). They were arraigned at Wareham District Court.
Police Chief Richard Stanley praised the cooperative effort of the detectives, officers, and troopers involved in the arrests of the wanted individuals and the ensuing investigation into the possession and distribution of illegal drugs in Wareham.
