JSC reviews more videos of scandal-hit judge - haveeruonline

It is believed that one video was recorded whilst judge Hameed was having a discussion with owner of Golden Lane shops Mohamed Saeed with regard to the politics of the country.

Saeed had been questioned and his residence searched by the police in connection to the case involving the sale of a sex video of a judge.

The second video is believed to be a meeting between the scandal-hit judge and former immigration controller Ilyas Hussain Ibrahim.

Both videos have been leaked on social media networks.

The committee appointed by the JSC to investigate the alleged sex tape of judge Ali Hameed convened for the first time on Sunday.

The judicial watchdog, however, declined to reveal details saying that it was an active investigation.

The committee includes three members from the commission – Abdulla Didi, Latheefa Gasim and Ahmed Rasheed – and two independent legal experts. They are Hussein Siraj and Mohamed Anil.

Meanwhile police summoned and questioned judge Hameed on Sunday for the second time in four days but no details have been revealed thus far.

Police had also arrested former Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation (MNBC) chairman Ahmed Faiz who has been accused of using the video to blackmail some top state officials.

Faiz, who is a prominent member of President Mohamed Waheed Hassan's Gaumee Ihthihad Party (GIP), was sacked from his post as the housing ministry's advisor and GIP's council.
