"He is the most dangerous drug dealer in Dubai because he was targeting young students in schools." Police got a tip-off about the man's activities and put him under surveillance.
Officers said the man's 32-year-old accomplice set up a drop-off of drugs in Al Quoz and they watched as he placed some drugs near a street sign and then left so the Emirati could collect the stash.
Officers then swooped.
Mahdi said: "We surrounded him. He tried to escape but we finally arrested him after a long chase. He tried hard to resist us."
He said both men were in possession of heroin. The pair have been referred to Dubai Public Prosecution charged with possessing and supplying drugs. And Mahdi warned: "We won't be easy with anyone trading in drugs. They can't hide from us and we will continue to take steps to protect our society from such dangers."
Dubai Police urged people to inform them of any drug activity by calling 800 400 400 or emailing dpan@dubaipolice.gov.ae.
