Five arrested, B3m in assets seized - Bangkok Post

SAMUT PRAKAN – Anti-narcotics police Sunday arrested five drug suspects and seized more than three million baht worth of assets following raids on five locations in Bang Phli district.

More than 100 officers simultaneously raided five locations in tambon Bang Chalong believed to be residences and hideouts of five people wanted on drug-related offences, Pol Col Kornwat Hanpradit, chief of Bang Phil police station, said.

Among the five places raided, said Pol Col Kornwat, officers stormed a three storey townhouse owned by Rachanon Singthong, 25, and Aunchana Khansumrit, 31, who are the two major suspects among the five.

Assets worth about three million baht confiscated from them included a pickup truck, a car, two motorcycles, gold ornaments and the townhouse.

The three other suspects also arrested on the same charge were identified as Tawatchai Somnuak, 25, Aumporn Paungsook, 56, and Wiroj Chanbua, 52. Police seized two motorcycles from them among other valuables.

The Sunday operation followed the arrest of a drug user and a drug dealer allegedly connected with one of the four drug trading networks in tambon Bang Chalong. The two told police they had bought drugs from Mr Rachanon and Ms Aunchana. Police then launched a surveillance operation before seeking warrants for their arrests from Samut Prakan Provincial Court, Pol Col Kornwat said.

Police searched Mr Rachanon's and Ms Aunchana's house but did not find illicit drugs. The suspects denied they were involved with illegal activities and claimed they bought all of the seized assets from the money they earned from operating a convenience store. However,  police were not convinced, Pol Col Kornwat said.
