Peddler arrested in Chandni Chowk with banned drugs worth Rs80 lakh - Daily Pioneer

 

 

 

Delhi Police's Crime Branch has arrested a drug peddler with banned drugs. He was arrested when he was intercepted by a Crime Branch team with prohibited drugs worth Rs80 lakh. He has been identified as Kishanpal, a resident of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. 

Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime, Ravindra Yadav said that the accused Kishanpal was apprehended on Friday afternoon busy Chandni Chowk area. He was carrying illegally procured drugs weighing 20 kg such as micro-crystal pseudoephedrine. His arrest was made on the basis of a secret information. He is being interrogated to identified the other members of the smuggling syndicate, he added.

Kishanpal was put to sustained interrogation and revealed that he belongs to Gorakhpur district and was residing in Kardampuri area of North east Delhi. He had moved to Delhi to earn a livelihood as his family was a poor one. He started working as a casual labour at Bhagirath Palace at Chandni Chowk.  It was in 2003 when he met one Ram Varksh,a  broker at the medicine market of Bhagirath Palace. He joined Ram Vraksh  to earn easy money by smuggling banned drugs, Yadav said.

They were arrested in 2003 by Narcotics Branch of Delhi Police and 25 Kgs dizepam — psychotropic substances was then recovered from their possession. Kishanpal remained in jail for about three years and then got the bail in this case. After coming out from jail, he returned to his village in Gorakhpur. He came back to Delhi in 2007 and again started working as helper in medicine shops at Bhagirath Palace. But the lure of the money that he made by smuggling such drugs was such that he against started to indulge in the illicit trade, the Additional CP added.

The income as a helper was not enough to meet rising expenses of the family and to earn easy and quick money he again started supplying controlled substance to his contacts after procuring the same from Kishan of Bhagirath Palace Chandni Chowk Delhi.
