OTTAWA A Gatineau woman and a man who is not a citizen of Canada were arrested Wednesday night after Gatineau police raided an apartment looking for drugs.
The raid is connected to two September searches where police separately arrested a couple suspected of running a marijuana grow-op and a suspected dealer.
Following a "lengthy investigation" into those cases, police were led to search an apartment at 271 Laramée St. at 5:30 Wednesday evening.
A married couple was at home when police stormed in and found four grams of cocaine, four grams of marijuana, $600 and a fake passport.
The 39-year-old man who is known to police for being linked to street gangs is being held "for immigration reasons" by the Canadians Border Services Agency.
The woman, 24, was released on a promise to appear in court at a later date.
The two raids that led to the arrests occurred in Gatineau on Sept. 18.
The first was at 59 St. Joseph Blvd. at 1 p.m. and the second was later the same day at 613 Greene St..
In the first, police found 28 grams of marijuana, 10 rocks of crack, $1,000 and cellular equipment police said was for the purpose of trafficking.
A 41-year-old resident who is known to police was arrested and is expected to be charged with possession with intent to traffic.
In the second raid, around 10:30 p.m., police arrested a couple in their sixties who are expected to be charged with production, trafficking, possession for the purpose of trafficking and careless storage of a firearm.
Police found 410 marijuana plants, 552 grams of marijuana ready for sale, $410, five shotguns, a bow and arrow and "equipment used to grow marijuana."
The couple was not known to police. All three people arrested in September were released on promises to appear in court at a later date.
