Arrests made after drugs busts in Northamptonshire villages - Northampton Chronicle & Echo

Three people have been arrested following drug raids in the villages of Harlestone, Brington and Whilton.

Officers executed four warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act on Tuesday, and as a result three arrests were made and a cannabis factory was discovered at a commercial property in Upper Harlestone.

Police and villagers then helped clear the cannabis factory of 80 to 100 "mature" cannabis plants.

A 44-year-old man from the Brington area was arrested, along with a 51-year-old man from the Whilton area and a 44-year-old man from Northampton.

The men have all been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Sam Dobbs of Daventry Safer Community Team said: "This was another classic example of how responsible landlords can work with the police to ensure that we send the strongest message out that we want to eradicate drugs in our communities.

"We intend to focus our efforts on disrupting the drugs supply chain. Tuesday's arrests demonstrate our resolve in making sure that drug dealers and suppliers have no part in our community life.

"It is also evidence of the positive results achievable when members of the public talk to us or Crimestoppers about their suspicions."
