Deputies responded to a home in the 20600 block of Union Street around 6 p.m. Thursday to investigate neighbor complaints of criminal activity at the residence, said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. David Cardoza.
They spoke with several people in the home and determined that one of them was on parole, Cardoza said. That individual consented to a search of the address, he said.
During the search, deputies found the shotgun and some hydrocodone -- trade name Vicodin - prescription medication, he said.
Wildomar resident Cornelius Campbell was arrested on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a controlled substance, Cardoza said. He was booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta and was being held in lieu of $30,000 bail, according to sheriff's online jail records.
He was due in court in Murrieta on Tuesday, according to the sheriff's department. --City News Service
