Father arrested for DUI drugs, endangerment - Arizona Daily Sun

An Arizona Medical Marijuana Act card holder was arrested on Wednesday night after police stopped his vehicle and smelled marijuana inside.

The man's 2-year-old daughter was in the car and he was returning from the grocery store, according to a police report. The 22-year-old Flagstaff man was driving about 5 mph under the speed limit along North Nyla Drive on the east side of the city when he was stopped for driving with registration tags that expired in January. An officer noticed a marijuana pipe inside the car and the man handed over his marijuana and paperwork showing he was a legal cardholder. The man said he had last smoked about five hours earlier.

The man largely passed his field sobriety tests and the officer called his supervisor for the proper course of action. The suspect was handcuffed and taken to the Coconino County Detention Facility where officers performed a blood draw. The man was cited and released for DUI, DUI drugs and felony aggravated DUI for driving with a passenger under the age of 15. The man's daughter was picked up by his mother-in-law.

Charges are pending the results of the blood test.
