2 arrested in drug buy-bust - Sun.Star

POLICE arrested two suspects and seized a total of P532,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu in a buy-bust operation in Davao City on Monday.

Police identified the suspects as Tahir Rex Musa, alias Mawi, 35, a chainsaw operator, of Poblacion, Pagalungan in Maguindanao, and his girlfriend -- Lyzel Olden Desabelle, 20, of Panabo City.

Personnel of the San Pedro Police Station launched the operation around 2 a.m. in front of a gasoline station in Ecoland, Matina, resulting in the arrests of the suspects.

Police said they received information from a concerned citizen about the work and whereabouts of Musa. The latter is believed to be a big time pusher operating in some areas in Mindanao.

Investigation showed that the police contacted Musa for transaction. The police and the suspect first agreed to have their transaction at a lodging inn on San Pedro Street but the location was changed.

The suspects were arrested after Musa handed a pack of suspected shabu worth P35,000 to a policeman who acted as a poseur buyer.

Recovered from the suspects were the illegal drugs, including a one big pack of suspected shabu worth P385,000 and six medium-sized packs of the same substance worth P147,000, as well as other drug paraphernalia.

Police also recovered a Kia Sportage owned by Desabelle.

The suspects are now detained at the San Pedro Police Station and are facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
