2 arrested on gun, drug charges - Albany Times Union

ALBANY — Two people are in jail on handgun and drug charges following their arrest during a 1:10 a.m. Sunday traffic stop.

Albany police said Officer Joshua Sears stopped a vehicle on Teunis Street on a violation of the vehicle and traffic law and observed the front seat passenger, Zameek Cooper, 28, of Albany, trying to conceal an open alcoholic beverage container in his lap, police said. During the investigation, police said, a small bag of crack cocaine and a loaded .40 caliber handgun were found inside the vehicle.

Cooper was charged with two counts each of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies. He also was charged with illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage.

The driver, Jacquelyn Hallock, 25, of Saratoga Springs, was charged with one count each of criminal possession of a weapon and of drugs, police said. She was also cited for a tinted window violation.

Cooper and Hallock were arraigned Sunday in Albany City Court and sent to the Albany County jail.
