Chvrches' Lauren Mayberry stood up to the great unwashed today when she asked them–very politely–to stop sending her obscenely creepy messages on Twitter and Facebook.
Since the band's profile has grown over the past few months, Lauren has been the focus of explicit messages on the social networking site. These messages proposition her in many different ways, ranging from laughable (in the most tragic sense, not comically funny) to disconcertingly creepy.
Responding to a user who suggested that they would make "superior love", Lauren wrote on the band's official Facebook page: "Dear guys, please stop sending us emails like this."
"This is one of the more polite ones. Other recent classics include "I'm going to give her anal" and "I'd fuck the accent right out of her and she'd love it". (No you wouldn't; no, she really wouldn't.)
"Seriously. Stop.
"K, tks, bye."
