Andrew Dikken, person of interest in Granite Falls - FOX 9 News

GRANITE FALLS, Minn -

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Granite Falls police are searching for a 28-year-old man in connection with an early Monday morning homicide.

Andrew Dikken, of Granite Falls, has been identified as a person of interest in the slaying.

Around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning, police responded to a call in the 1100 block of Prentice Street and discovered the body of a woman who died of an apparent gunshot wound.

Family members identified the woman as Kara Monson, 27, and told FOX 9 News that Dikken and Monson had been in a relationship that recently ended and Dikken was struggling to cope.

Inside, police also found an in injured 28-year-old man who suffered critical injuries. He was brought by air to HCMC. His condition is unknown.

Granite Falls Police Chief Russ Blue told FOX 9 News that Dikken was seen at a gas station shortly after the shooting. Police say he was driving a brown 1996 GMC Sierra "club cab" pickup truck with Minnesota license plate 032-GGL. 

"He has lots of friends in this area, so there [are] a lot of people who know him. So hopefully, someone will step up, let us know -- at least his hauntings, where he could possibly be. We'll take it from there. We will go searching high and low," Blue said.

Anyone with knowledge Dikken's whereabouts is asked to not approach him, but contact either Granite Falls Police, Yellow Medicine Sheriff's Office, or call 911.

The investigation is ongoing.
