Officers arrested two suspects at a Fayetteville Motel following a drug bust early Monday morning, according to police.

Melissa Abbott and Mark Harris were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft by receiving. Abbott faces additional misdemeanor charges.

Harris, 50, was released Monday from the Washington County Detention Center on $4,500 bond. Abbott, 28, remained in jail on $4,500 bond, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

An officer was patrolling near the Days Inn around 1 a.m. when he saw Harris digging through the passenger side of his white Ford pickup truck. When approached, Harris seemed nervous and started fidgeting, according to a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor's Office.

When the officer asked Harris if he was staying at the hotel, the suspect pointed toward an open hotel room door. Police noticed someone moving inside the room, the report states.

Harris gave the officer consent to search his room, and police noticed the woman in the room had a glass meth pipe in her hand, according to the preliminary report.  Police found a glass marijuana pipe in the woman's jacket and arrested her, causing her to swear at Harris, saying he had set her up, police said.

Police found another glass marijuana pipe in an ice chest on the floor of the room. The officer also found a meth pipe, prescription drugs and a tin can containing marijuana, according to the preliminary report. Police said Harris handed a sock over to the officer that contained methamphetamine.

Harris had a second room rented at the hotel, and a search of the room uncovered a stolen credit card and a baggie of syringes, police said.
