Teen murder suspect's juvenile records show history of violence - KOKI FOX 23

Juvenile records reveal a teen murder suspect had a troubled relationship with his mother.

FOX23's Abbie Alford picked up Henry "Hank" Laird's juvenile record on Thursday after filing an open records request. FOX23 found he and his mom had a very troubled relationship that surfaced after his father died from cancer when he was 10.

Court records show Laird was a 'troubled child' with seven years of repeat offenses and he was labeled "high risk." Laird was also placed in intense supervision for assaulting his mother, Linda.

Laird is charged with first degree murder for the beating death of his mother. Linda Laird was found dead in her south Tulsa home, near 71st and Yale, on Tuesday morning.

Court records show in April 2011, when Laird and his mother lived in Broken Arrow, Wagoner County filed charges after Laird allegedly repeatedly punched his mother in the face.

Records show in October 2011 at their south Tulsa home Laird shoved his mother to the ground which caused her to hit her head, and records allege he did so with intent to hurt her.

Records also show just a few months later, in April 2012, Laird threw his mother into a wall, choked her and punched her in the head. Other incidents that involve medical information were redacted by the courts.

Court records also show Laird was on probation, took anxiety medication and was ordered to go to school, which he hadn't regularly attended since his father died of cancer in 2006. Laird also had counseling, anger management and said he abused alcohol.

Despite the documented abuse and probation violations, including house arrest, throughout the court records FOX23's Abbie Alford also found Linda protected her son and just a few weeks ago told a judge that Laird was becoming more respectful, hadn't beat her recently and Laird said he wanted to start a new chapter in his life.

Linda Laird pleaded with the court to keep Hank Laird home and not in juvenile detention or at the Tulsa Boys Home.

Arrest reports for Laird and 19-year-old Josiah Sklar, also charged with first degree murder for Linda Laird's death, allege Hank Laird beat his mother at least 20 times in the head with the butt of a shot gun.

Henry "Hank" Laird is charged with first degree murder.
