Nelly on drug arrest: 'I wouldn't jeopardise my career' - The Voice Online

PROBLEMS: Nelly speaks out after police find drugs and gun during a raid of his tour bus

HIP-HOP STAR Nelly has spoken out about his recent arrest over drugs and a gun found in his tour bus.

The damming discovery was made last week during a routine stop at a checkpoint near El Paso, Texas.

According to Sky News member of the singer's entourage, Brian Keith Jones, reportedly claimed the illegal items were his and was arrested while others on the bus, including the rapper, were released.

In a recent interview with V-103 radio's Kenny Burns Nelly said: "Certain stuff we can say and certain stuff you can't say until all that is cleared."

"We got pulled over and things were noticed as far as K-9 abilities and things went in stages from there. It was kind of wild. When they asked, 'Whose is this,' I can tell you who it ain't."

He continued: "Everything happened so fast. It's one of those situations where you're squinting your eyes like, Is this really happening?…There was no way I would jeopardize what Nelly has built for the last 14-15 years being in the situation I was accused."

Shortly after the diamond-selling rapper's arrest, Rusty Fleming, of the local sheriff's office told Sky News: "The agent requested all seven occupants out of the bus and conducted an inspection of the vehicle."

"A search produced a small plastic container containing marijuana, 36 small bags containing heroin, and a loaded .45 pistol."

"It is my understanding a member of my staff made an unfortunate decision to bring unlawful materials onto our tour bus that resulted in his arrest."

"Neither I nor anyone else on the tour bus was aware of his decision to bring these on board."

Following the raid Nelly went on Twitter to announce that he was 'mad as hell' with the suspect.
