Student arrested for threatening to shoot people - KTBS

Bossier Parish, La. -

The Bossier Sheriff's Office arrested a 17-year-old student at the Bossier Learning Center this morning on drug charges and threatening to shoot people at the school.
Cameron S. Jessup of Haughton was arrested on charges of terrorizing, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

K-9 teams from the Bossier Sheriff's Office and Bossier City Police Department conducted a routine sniff for drugs this morning at the Bossier Learning Center, Bossier High School, Airline High School and Parkway High School.

While at the Bossier Learning Center, a deputy was approached by a fearful teacher who said Jessup told her "This school makes me want to shoot everyone." When questioned by the deputy, Jessup admitted to making the statement.

At the same time, a K-9 team alerted on a truck in the parking lot of the Bossier Learning Center that belonged to Jessup, where deputies found marijuana in the driver's side floorboard and passenger's glove box of his truck.

Jessup was transported to the Bossier Maximum Security Facility and booked; his bond is pending.

"We take very seriously any threats of violence," said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington. "We will not tolerate anyone threatening our schools or cause fear of safety in our businesses, homes or churches."

The K-9 sniff for drugs is routinely conducted at schools with vehicles in the parking lots and areas inside the school.

"We have an outstanding relationship with Superintendent D.C. Machen to keep all 34 learning institutions in Bossier Parish safe," said Sheriff Whittington. Teaming up with the Bossier City Police Department, we will do all we can to keep drugs away from our schools and off of our campuses. When the students see us at the schools, whether through these random searches or the daily presence of our school resource officers, it sends a strong message that we are serious about drugs, weapons and illegal activity in our schools."
