JOHOR BARU: Three Singaporeans and two Indonesians were nabbed by Johor police on Wednesday in two separate raids for allegedly manufacturing and distributing drugs with a total street value of over RM220,000.

Johor police chief Datuk Mokhtar Shariff said more arrests were expected.

The incident unfolded at 11pm when police raided a house in Taman Permas Jaya here and seized Ecstacy, Eramin 5 and tablet printing machines.

Mokhtar said that during the raid, police arrested a 44-year-old Singaporean who tested positive for drugs and had a previous police record for violent crime.

Investigations revealed that the suspect was involved with a drug syndicate which distributed drugs to Singapore.

Mokhtar said police seized 1,268 Ecstacy pills worth RM63,400, 100 Eramin 5 pills worth RM3,000, 544g of Ecstacy powder worth RM136,000 and 139g of caffeine worth RM100.

"The seizure was estimated to be worth RM202,100," he told reporters at the state police headquarters here, yesterday.

The second raid happened at 10.55pm on the same day when another police team raided a house in Taman Tampoi Indah here and seized ganja and heroin.

Two Singaporeans and two Indonesians, aged between 39 and 45, were arrested during the raid.

Mokhtar said police seized 516g of heroin worth RM20,640 and 30g of ganja worth RM60 with an estimated street value of RM20,700.

All the suspects tested positive for drugs. Mokhtar said one of the suspects had just been released from the Kluang prison six months ago after serving a sentence for a drug offence.

All the suspects are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the mandatory death penalty.

The case is also being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act and under Section 32 of the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988.
