A 71-YEAR-OLD man from Dorset has been arrested after Border Agency officers seized £64,000 of cannabis powder. The man from Lyme Regis, who was arrested and later bailed pending further enquiries, was stopped at Portsmouth ferry terminal on Saturday November 3. Officers with the UK Border Agency stopped a car which had just arrived off a ferry from Caen at 6.30am and found the drugs after searching the vehicle. The 32 kilos of cannabis found was worth approximately £64,000. Andy Lumb, from the UK Border Force, said: "As this detection shows, our officers are on constant alert, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to keep drugs, other smuggled goods and illegal persons out of the UK. "We are determined to prevent this terrible trade which can have such a destructive impact on the lives of so many." Anyone who has information on suspected smuggling or immigration offences can call the Border Force hotline on 0800 59 5000.
