Long Preston man, 32, had hoard of obscene pictures

A 32-year-old man whose extensive hoard of pornography included hundreds of sick images of child abuse and bestiality has been sentenced to a suspended term of imprisonment.

Robert Moore was caught with photos and videos of people having sex with an octopus, goat, pig, dogs, horses and snakes, Bradford Crown Court heard.

He pleaded guilty to 15 charges of possession of child pornography and extreme pornography on February 17.

Prosecutor Jeremy Hill-Baker told the court on Friday that police seized computer equipment, CDs and DVDs when they searched Moore's home on the Ribblesdale estate in Long Preston.

As well as a large collection of legal adult pornography, they found a significant amount of illegal images.

Mr Hill-Baker said the haul included 82 indecent images or videos of children as young as six or seven, including 37 at the second highest level of seriousness.

Also seized were 635 images and 79 videos of extreme pornography involving humans having sex with animals.

Asked if he wanted to view the images, Judge Colin Burn said he did not think that was necessary.

Moore told the police he was looking for "decent porn" when the illegal images were downloaded.

His barrister, Robin Frieze, said Moore had made no attempt to search for child pornography on his computer. The illegal images were a by-product of his hunt for adult images.

There was no suggestion of any file sharing or distribution.

Judge Burn sentenced Moore to six months' imprisonment, suspended for two years.

He must carry out 180 hours of unpaid work and sign on the sex offenders' register for seven years.

A Sexual Offences Prevention Order was made for five years, meaning that any computer Moore uses must retain and display its internet history for 30 days and he must allow police officers to inspect any internet device he uses.

Judge Burn warned Moore that any repetition of the offences could lead to "dire consequences" for him.
