Seven arrested in Swansea drug raids - This is South Wales

POLICE arrested seven people and seized a cocktail of drugs in a series of raids on houses in Swansea.

Officers swooped on addresses in Penlan, Blaenymaes, Gowerton and Pontarddulais in a co- ordinated two-day operation.

Detectives say information from the public was vital in planning the raids, and they are urging people to continue coming forward with intelligence and tip-offs.

Inspector Phil Thomas, from Penlan police station, said: "This combined operation was very successful and it sends out a clear message to all those who are currently dealing or thinking of dealing in drugs that, in time, we will catch up with you.

"It has been well documented that drugs can bring misery and depravation and have a devastating effect on families and communities, and our message is quite simple — we will not tolerate this type of behaviour and we will actively seek out these individuals and to bring them to justice.

"I would like to thank the community for the information that was provided which enabled us to conduct this successful two-day operation and to reassure the everyone that our work is continuing and that there further operations area planned in the next couple of weeks."

He added: "I would urge anyone with information whether it is drug dealing or other forms of criminality to come forward."

The raids took place at houses in Heol Gwyrosydd, Penlan, Pittsburgh Court in Blaenymaes, Heol y Gog and Cedar Avenue in Gowerton, and Heol y Cae in Pontarddulais on Thursday and Friday.

Police say a large amount of amphetamine was recovered in the operation, along with cannabis and a quantity of white power which is currently being tested.

Four men — one aged 29, two aged 22 and a 19-year-old — who were arrested for possession with intent to supply have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

An 18-year-old man was cautioned for possession of cannabis, while an 18-year-old man and a woman aged 22 were released with no further action.
