Two Garden City men arrested on drug allegations

The Garden City Police/Finney County Drug Task Force served three search warrants Friday morning that led to the arrest of two men on drug allegations.

According to police, the task force served search warrants at 622 N. 13th St., 3618 Westport Ave., and at Mojados Customs, 3515 E. U.S. Highway 50.

During a search of 622 N. 13th St., officers found 30 grams of suspected marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia consistent with the use and distribution of illegal drugs.

Eduardo Reyes Ortega, 21, was located inside the residence and was arrested on allegations of three counts of sale of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and no Kansas drug-tax stamp.

A search of 3618 Westport Ave. resulted in the recovery of 15 grams of suspected marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia consistent with the use and distribution of illegal drugs. No one was home during the search, and the investigation is ongoing.

During the search of Mojados Customs, officers found 292 grams of suspected marijuana, 7.24 grams of suspected cocaine, items of drug paraphernalia consistent with the use and distribution of illegal drugs, and a sawed-off shotgun.

Javier Humberto Varela, 31, was arrested at the business on allegations of five counts of sale of marijuana, four counts of unlawful use of a communication device, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, possession of cocaine, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, no Kansas drug-tax stamp, and criminal possession of a firearm.
