2 arrested in Dayton drug unit bust - WHIO Dayton

Two people were arrested late Monday afternoon in a drug bust precipitated by complaints in the neighborhood.

Members of the Dayton Police Department Drug Unit found small amounts of marijuana and cocaine in the house in the 400 block of North Garland Avenue.

Kelsey Townsend, 19, was arrested on a charge of permitting drug abuse. Anthony Johnson, 24, was arrested on a charge of trafficking in drugs, according to police. Both were booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

Police said the amount of drugs found at the address was enough to generate neighborhood complaints, and drug unit members said their surveillance showed a steady stream of traffic to the address.

Because of the drug activity, the address will be placed in the city's nuisance abatement program, according to police.

The landlord will have to show proof that changes have been made regarding the activity there to regain control of the house and be released from the program, police said.

If no changes are made, the people will not be allowed to return to the address as the city will take steps to close down the house because of the drug use, according to police.

Drug investigations are based through the department's drug hotline or the Crime Stopper tip line, (937) 333-DRUG or (937) 222-STOP.
