Three people face drug-related charges after a Multnomah County search dog and deputies found three pounds of methamphetamine in the car they were traveling in.

A loaded handgun was also discovered during the traffic stop at 10:45 p.m. Monday near Northeast 162nd Avenue and Northeast Fremont Street, according to the sheriff's office. Deputies arrested Michael J. Smith, 36; Mark E. Smith, 34; and Karen L. Johnson, 54, who have all been booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on delivery and possession of methamphetamine charges.

Another two pounds of meth was found in a hotel room that had been rented by one of the arrested trio, said the sheriff's office, and the drugs have an estimated street value of $250,000. An investigation is ongoing.
