COLERAIN TWP., Ohio - Colerain Township police's special investigation unit arrested two men on Thursday, including the operator of an ice cream truck, for possession of drugs and drug trafficking following a lengthy investigation.
Police say Lemual Bailey, 49, of Norwood, was operating his ice cream truck on Niagara Street in the Northbrook neighborhood of Colerain Township when he engaged in a drug transaction with Joseph Kerr, 37, of Colerain Township. The transaction was in the presence of Kerr's 11-year-old daughter.
9 On Your Side spoke to a woman who identified herself as Kerr's wife. She said that their daughter was not in the house as police allege. She, however, did not deny the allegations of drug dealing.
Detective Denny Deaton told 9 On Your Side that Kerr sold his daughter's Adderall to Bailey. Adderall is used to treat ADHD.
Neighbors including a nearby business didn't want to speak on the record but expressed satisfaction that the arrests were made. They described a high volume of traffic in front of the house.
Police arrested Bailey and Kerr shortly after the transaction, which led to the seizure of numerous other prescription medications. Officials did not list the specific drugs they seized.
Bailey was charged with possession of drugs and Kerr was charged with trafficking in drugs.
Both were taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center.
