Passaic County Sheriff detectives make eight drug arrests in Paterson - NorthJersey.com

PATERSON – Two alleged drug dealers from Paterson and six suspected buyers from the suburbs were arrested by Passaic County Sheriff's detectives who conducted surveillance operations at five locations on Thursday and Friday.

"The information was developed from various community sources which involved various concerned citizens complaining of unusual pedestrian and vehicle traffic at the locations,'' said a press release issued by Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik.

Three of the arrests were made near the corner of Jefferson and N. 6th streets. Laura Beck, 44, of Paterson was charged with selling heroin and crack; intent to distribute the drugs within 1,000 feet of School 17; and possession of the drugs. Also arrested near that location were Jeffrey A. Wichot, 22, and a 17-year-old girl, both from Wayne, who were charged with possession of heroin.

At 450 Kearney Street, sheriff's detectives arrested Mario Rosignano, 31, and charged him with possession of more than five pounds of marijuana and 1.2 ounces of cocaine, distribution of the drugs and intent to distribute the drugs within 1,000 feet of St Gerard's School. Detectives also seized $500 as drug proceeds and confiscated drug distribution paraphernalia such as scales, cutting agents and packaging equipment.

At the corner of Spruce and Grand streets, the sheriff's officers arrested 25-year-old Richard Ward from Butler, who was wanted on a warrant from a previous drug charges, and charged him with possession of heroin.

At the corner of Auburn Street and Broadway, they arrested Simone Greco, 21, from Pompton Lakes, on heroin possession charges and Joseph B Avalone, 21, of Pompton Lakes, on possession of heroin and crack charges.

At West Broadway and Memorial Drive, the sheriff's officers arrested Anthony Huarachi, 30, from Elmwood Park and charged him with possession of cocaine.
