Our young [rape murder violence] victims - News24

Today marks the 18th birthday of previous youngster and victim of rape and murder Anene Booysen. With a cheer in my heart I read that her accused Johannes Kana will be sentenced on this day. State will ask for life imprisonment [Update: accused will return to court Friday]. 
Minutes later I get a message from my mother who is a well-known HIV/Aids chief professional nurse at a local clinic. The message reads; ''Please help pray for six year old girl who was sodomized by elder scholars with a pencil.'' This little girl was brought directly to my mother after the incident happened. 

While we strive to get justice for some [all] and we celebrate the sentences of murderers and rapists, these acts still remain a reality. We as South Africans have the ball in our court now. While we fight the slogans of racism we forget about acts of violence, deep rooted hate that was formed by the educators [parents] and environment our children grow-up in. I tell you today; your children will never be 100% safe, not even wealth can secure this. 

Anene's case went public, and our politicians surrounded her [mother] to comfort her in difficult times and promises were made; but all I saw was Tom, Dick and Harry who thinks that posing with the saddest, poorest and most enduring pain selective few will win you votes. Bla bla bla to what you call leadership!

Let's remember the little boy [7] and baby [4 months] from Ceres who both were raped by a man who was out on patrol. The girl was admitted to Red Cross Children's Hospital where she had reconstructive surgery. 
The boy was released into his mother's care, but he still has nightmares; those types of nightmares that feast on your mind, seven years old and such trauma so early in his life. What he doesn't know is the fact that he is my ultimate hero! Remember how he carried the baby home alone in the cold and dark? 

What have we become? The one day we speak unity and peace. Forgive. We strike. We break down buildings and set tyres on fire. We hunger for wealth. We spit on the poor. One talks more than another... Fame became the game. 

Africans [South] shame on you! These children are our children….Give us solutions…!!
