Two arrested after calling police and allegedly trying to sell drugs - Charleston Gazette

MINDEN, W.Va. -- Two Fayette County men were arrested after they allegedly mistakenly called police to solicit a drug sale.

Officers from the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force were at the State Police detachment in Oak Hill at about 8 p.m. Thursday when the telephone rang, according to Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler.

A trooper answered the phone, Kessler said, saying, "West Virginia State Police, how may I help you?" A man calling himself John then allegedly asked the trooper if he wanted to buy prescription pills and gave directions to his home in Minden.

Kessler said officers from the drug task force, "resisting the urge to laugh," then drove to the address, where undercover officers allegedly bought two hydrocodone pills.

When they left, troopers, Fayette County sheriff's deputies and task force members went to the house, got a search warrant and allegedly found a bottle of hydrocodone pills, cash and the marked bills the undercover officers allegedly used to buy the drugs, Kessler said.

John Frederick Jarrell, 36 and Danny Lee Kincaid, 60, both of 7 Thurbon Road in Minden, were arrested, Kessler said. Kincaid was charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and conspiracy to commit a felony. Jarrell is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy.

Both men were awaiting arraignment this morning at the Southern Regional Jail.

"It normally takes a good deal of time to conduct an investigation into drug trafficking offenses and build a case," Kessler said. "When the bad guys come right to your door, it makes our job a whole lot easier.

"'Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid,'" Kessler said, attributing the quote to John Wayne. "Life is certainly tough for these two individuals right now."
