Son, father, uncle arrested

A 31-year-old man, his father and his uncle were arrested Thursday evening in Santa Cruz on drug-related charges.

A Santa Cruz police officer spotted Curtis James Allison Jr. driving a BMW in the area of Brookside and Avalon around 5:30 p.m., Deputy Chief Steve Clark said. Allison has a significant history with law enforcement and the officer knew he was wanted on a warrant.

The officer pulled him over and searched Allison, who also is on probation. In the car with him were his father, Curtis James Allison Sr., and his uncle, Paul David Allison, as well as methamphetamine and heroin.

The officer arrested Paul Allison, 52, and Curtis Allison Jr. on suspicion of possessing drugs and possessing methamphetamine and heroin for sale. The nephew was also arrested on warrants out of Campbell.

Curtis Allison Sr. was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after the officer spotted him trying to destroy a methamphetamine pipe, Clark said.

'Most Wanted' suspect arrested

A 29-year-old man sought by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office was arrested Thursday night in Felton.

Adrian Puga was wanted on multiple warrants for a parole violation, possession of drugs, possession of an illegal weapon and resisting arrest, among other charges.

Deputies arrested

Puga at 238 Redwood Drive on his warrants and on a new charge of possession of a controlled substance. A second man at the home, Andrew Remijo Jaquez, 29, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence.

Puga appeared on the county's "Most Wanted" list Wednesday, where he was listed as "considered armed and dangerous" and a risk to public safety.

Man threatened with pencil

Santa Cruz police say a 30-year-old man was arrested after he threatened to poke another man with a pencil Wednesday night.

Christopher Edward Brown and another man had been sleeping outside Wheel Works on Front Street, Deputy Chief Steve Clark said.

The victim told police that Brown woke him up and accused him of throwing his belongings in a garbage can. He said he woke to find Brown standing over him, holding a pencil and threatening to poke him in the neck with it.

Brown was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.

Man convicted of bank robbery

Jurors on Friday found a Prunedale man guilty of robbing a Capitola bank in September 2011.

John White, 37, robbed the Chase Bank on 41st Avenue on Sept. 12, 2011 by handing the teller a note that claimed he had a bomb. White was wearing a wig and a skirt at that time.

White had pleaded guilty to two bank robberies in Monterey County, both in September 2011.

He admitted to trying to rob a Wells Fargo branch in Marina on Sept. 20, 2011 and to robbing the Comerica bank in Prunedale on Sept. 2, 2011.

WATSONVILLE

Second suspect arrested in robbery

Deputies arrested a second suspect Thursday in an ATM robbery that occurred last month in Aptos.

Fernando Quintero Olivarez, 20, was arrested at his home on Green Valley Road in Watsonville on suspicion of felony armed robbery, sheriff's Sgt. Patrick Dimick said.

Olivarez is suspected of helping Miguel Angel Hernandez, 20, rob a woman at gunpoint as she was using the Bay Federal Credit Union ATM in Aptos Village Jan. 24.

Deputies were dispatched there around 10:30 p.m. that night when the woman reported she was approached on foot by two men as she was completing her ATM transaction. Both were dressed in black clothing and black ski masks.

One of the men, who deputies say was Hernandez, held a handgun to her head and demanded money. The woman retrieved money from the ATM, handed it over to the men before they fled.

Hernandez was arrested Monday at his Royal Oaks home. He was arraigned Wednesday and is due back in court Feb. 14.

Both men are no longer being held in Santa Cruz County Jail, records show.
