Rape, drugs and prostitution: Another Taiwanese millionaire scandal - AsiaOne

KAOHSIUNG - Taiwan has been hit by yet another sex scandal. This time, it involves a personality whose rags-to-riches story is one that the Taiwanese public is familiar with.

Lin Wei Ching, 34, has been accused of earning his millions by blackmailing and forcing more than 1,000 women into prostitution. Not only that, he is also accused of rape and running drug hotels and prostitution rings.

According to reports in the Taiwanese media, the former singer is believed to have run a prostitution ring providing escorts to Taiwan officials.

He is also said to have raped women and encouraged his employees to do so too. Many of his victims were lured by drugs or had passed out from being drugged unknowingly, the Taiwanese media said.

To add to these accusations, it has also been revealed that Lin had recorded the sexual acts on video.

A Next Magazine report stated that Lin had organised the gang rape of unconscious girls and video recorded the incidents. But he did not stop there. According to the magazine, Lin is also believed to have blackmailed the victims with the recording and forced them into prostitution.

Despite having been arrested several times before, Lin has managed to escape jail.

Most recently, he was sent to a detention camp in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, but was released after paying a bail amount of NT$700,000 (S$29,206) on October 24.

Nevertheless, Lin, who had previously worked in construction in his younger days, is a long way from seeing an end to the saga.

Explicit videos and photographs he had allegedly shot have been leaked online, leading the police to conduct new investigations against him.

This is the second time in two months that a large-scale sex scandal involving drugs and wealthy people has left the Taiwanese public sitting at the edge of their seats.

In August, a Taiwanese millionaire's son shocked the entire Asian region when pictures and videos of him drug-raping semi-conscious girls were leaked on the internet.

Justin Lee, 27, was sentenced to 14 years in prison on October 19, after admitting to using date rape drugs he had purchased online.
