Sex tape scandal rocks Hank Green's 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries' - Hypable

After spending an impressive amount of time developing and crafting the Lydia and Wickham relationship, the Pride & Prejudice web series adaptation The Lizzie Bennet Diaries has finally revealed the twist that all fans were speculating about!

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a web series created by Hank Green, one half of the YouTube channel The Vlogbrothers. Since launching, the web series has amassed a devoted fan base that continues to expand. With Tumblrs, websites, Twitters and multiple channels, the show presents its characters as modern day individuals, who just so happen to document everything pivotal online.

Speaking of pivotal events, one of the current topics of debates has been how the show would adapt Lydia Bennet eloping with George Wickham. In the original novel this was scandalous enough, but for a modern society it just wouldn’t compare. The event is designed to trigger Darcy to step in, saving Lydia’s honour and hence expose Darcy’s kind nature to Elizabeth.

As a result, fans have been witness to a developing romance between Lydia and Wickham through Lydia’s personal YouTube channel TheLydiaBennet. Although fans have been picking up the manipulative and disturbing nature of Wickham’s treatment of Lydia, her most recent video saw her realize and reveal her hopelessly devoted love for him. It is with perfect timing then, that the series’ creators bring in the twist.

So what modern day trapping could damage Lydia’s honour so shockingly? Well, if the new website lydiabennettape.com is anything to go by; it’s a sex tape scandal! Recently confirmed by The Lizzie Bennet Diaries Facebook page, this website is indeed part of the story line! Boasting the phrase “See YouTube star Lydia Bennet reveal EVERYTHING”, the website contains a countdown set to reveal the video in 14 days. Coincidentally, this just so happens to be Valentines Day! A YouTube channel has also appeared with the username LydiaBennetTape, although no videos have yet to be uploaded.

It appears that the characters of the series have yet to discover this sex tape website, other than Lizzie’s friend Charlotte. @TheCharlotteLu has sent out a couple of cryptic tweets, reading @thelizziebennet call me as soon as you get this. 911. And @thelizziebennet can’t reach you anywhere. pls call me as soon as you can. Emergency!!!

With radio silence from any of the other characters, fans are currently left to ponder just what exactly will pop up in their subscription box when The Lizzie Bennet Diaries uploads its regularly scheduled Thursday video!
