Sirens: Snakes in an Apartment; Obscene Pay Phone; Child Rape, Molestation ... - Centralia Chronicle

Centralia Police Department

DUI Collision

• Tyler J. Aust, 22, Centralia, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence after a one-vehicle versus pole collision near West Main Street and Yew Street at 1:09 a.m. Wednesday. Aust was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital.

Assault

• Two juvenile females were referred to the prosecutor's office for assault charges after a fight with another juvenile female at 8:19 a.m. Tuesday at Centralia Middle School.

Stolen Backpack

• Someone reported the theft of a backpack from the 500 block of South Tower Avenue at 8:39 a.m. Tuesday.

Stolen Motorcycle

• There was a report of a red and silver Honda motorcycle from a shed on the 2700 block of Eureka Avenue at 7:43 p.m. Tuesday.

Malicious Mischief

• There was a report of someone breaking out a truck window at 8:23 a.m. Monday near North Railroad Avenue and East Center Street.

Drugs

• A 15-year-old boy was arrested for unlawful possession of prescription medication, marijuana and a pipe at 10:55 a.m. Monday on the 800 block of Eshom Road.

Graffiti

• There was a report of graffiti in an alley at 4:55 p.m. Monday on the 1500 block of Windsor Avenue.

Snakes in an Apartment

• A woman called police at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday to report snakes in her apartment on the 1500 block of North National Avenue. She told 911 dispatchers that some of them were "clicking and letting off some stinky smell" and that "one is behind a chair and the other is behind the TV." She also said "one stuck his head out to drink some milk." An officer responded and determined that there were not any real snakes in her apartment.

Obscene Pay Phone

• A woman called police to report that a pay phone rang at a bus stop on the 10 block of Northeast Division Street shortly before 3 p.m. Monday and she answered it and it was an "obscene phone call." Apparently this has been an ongoing problem.

Burglary

• A burglary was reported at about 2 p.m. Tuesday on the 100 block of Sunstone Road outside of Packwood. A king-sized mattress and sheets, a dresser, a shower curtain, a vacuum cleaner and other items, valuing at about $1,100, were reportedly taken. The burglary is believed to have occurred between Oct. 12 and Feb. 12.

Child Rape, Molestation

• An $100,000 arrest warrant was issued for Raul B. Castillo-Lopez, 26, Salkum, for alleged child molestation and child rape after ongoing sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl was reported at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5 in Salkum. Evidence was located at the scene and police are asking for anyone with information about Castillo-Lopez's whereabouts to contact the Lewis County Sheriff's Office at (360) 748-9286 or Lewis County Crime Stoppers at (800) 748-6422 if the wish to remain anonymous.

Burglary

• A burglary to an unsecured barn on the 4000 block of Cooks Hill Road outside of Centralia was reported at 6:50 p.m. Monday. The burglary is believed to have occurred between Feb. 1 and Feb. 11. About $3,800 worth of items were stolen, including plywood, a generator and other items.

• A residential burglary was reported at 1:31 p.m. Monday on the 5000 block of state Route 508 in Morton. During the burglary, which occurred between Feb. 1 and Feb. 11, tools, a weed trimmer, an antique musket and other items were stolen.

Not Missing, Just in Trouble

• A concerned parent filed a missing person report with the police department at 4:09 p.m. Feb. 6 after a student failed to return home after school at the normal time. It was later learned that the student was serving detention at the school.

Loud Stereo

• Officers responded to the 100 block of Wood Avenue at 3:52 p.m. Sunday for a report of a loud stereo. The party was contacted and requested to turn down the music. They complied.

Brotherly Love

• Police received a report of a dispute on the 100 block of First Street at 11:23 a.m. Feb. 8, after two brothers were verbally fighting over the use of a cellphone. An officer settled the issue by giving the phone to the parents.
