KOTA BARU: Kelantan Police confiscated drugs valued at RM125,000 and detained three suspects, one of them a woman, here on Thursday.
Kelantan CID chief Supt Amran Ramli said today the suspects, in their 20s, were arrested at a road block in Lemal, Pasir Mas, at 10 pm.
"An inspection of a car ferrying a man and woman showed up 200 methamphetamine pills hidden in the dashboard while 1,000 more pills were found in the man's pants pockets.
"Their friend, who was driving another car, was also held at the road block and we found 193 methamphetamine pills scattered on the driver's side of the floorboard," he told reporters at the Kelantan Police headquarters, here.
Amran said the three suspects then brought the police to a hotel here at 2 am on Friday where they found 60 Eramin 5 pills and 4,000 methamphetamine pills in separate rooms, as well as RM22,050.
"We believe we have crippled a drug syndicate active in distributing restricted goods in the state by using cheap hotels to store the items," he said.
Amran said tests showed that the suspects were not on drugs and had no past criminal records.
He said the suspects were being remanded until Jan 3, and the case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. -- BERNAMA
