TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement arrested a pharmacist in Terre Haute after a two week investigation into money and prescription drug theft.
The owners of JR Pharmacy originally contacted the ISP about possible theft of both money and products from their pharmacy from one of the pharmacists, John T. Webb, 68, of Bloomfield, Ind.: a 10-year employee at the pharmacy.
The ISP assigned their Drug Enforcement Section (ISPDES) to the investigation, due to the possibility of misuse of prescription drugs.
Webb is alleged to have stolen nearly $1,100 in case and various pharmaceutical drugs, and was arrested on charges of Theft and Dealing in a Controlled Substance.
ISP found that Webb was allegedly providing the cash and drugs to a female acquaintance in return for sexual favors, family members, customers and for personal use. The alleged thefts occurred at JR Pharmacy at 2902 Poplar St., in Terre Haute.
The investigation is ongoing with the possibility of more charges to come.
Webb is being held in the Vigo County Jail without bond, and has his initial hearing on Wednesday.
The investigation is being conducted by ISPDE Detective Deanna Jones. Assisting in the investigation was the Vigo County Prosecutor's Office.
