York City drug detectives seized more than $3,500 worth of drugs and eight guns during raids of two homes last week and arrested three people, city Detective First Class Andrew Shaffer said.

On Friday, detectives raided the first-floor apartment of 212 S. Penn St. and arrested residents Shaheim Carr, 19, and Saquana Layer, 23.

Both are charged with cocaine and heroin possession with intent to deliver, receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and conspiracy offenses, Shaffer said. Additionally, Carr is charged with two counts of delivery of heroin.

At the time of his arrest, there was an active warrant for Carr's arrest for robbery, according to Shaffer.

Seized: Narcotics officers seized $2,200 in heroin, $430

in crack-cocaine, $1,000 cash, $25 in marijuana and six weapons: a .22-caliber AK-47-style rifle, a Ruger 9mm handgun, a Beretta .40-caliber handgun, a Star 9mm handgun, a Hi-Point .45-caliber handgun and a stolen Taurus .45-caliber handgun.

The stolen gun was the reason Carr and Layer were charged with receiving stolen property, Shaffer said.

Carr remains in York County Prison on a total of $850,000 bail on two separate drug-dealing cases, the robbery charge and a charge of flight to avoid apprehension.

Layer is free on $150,000 bail.

Second raid: On Oct. 10, drug detectives raided the 635 Manor St. home of Edwin Toledo, 20, who was arrested and charged with delivery of heroin and heroin possession with intent to deliver, according to Shaffer.

Seized from the home was $900 in heroin, a Bersa .380 handgun and a .357 revolver, police said.

Toledo is in county prison. He was denied bail because at the time of his arrest last week, he already was free on bail on drug-dealing charges, according to court records.
