6 people, including minors, arrested for sniffing shabu - Sun.Star

SIX people, including two minors, were arrested for illegal drugs in separate operations in Cebu City Saturday.

Rolito Caja, 44, was the first one to be arrested in Sitio Mohon, Barangay Tisa past 1 p.m.

Elements of City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) recovered three packs of shabu from Caja.

At 6 p.m., police raided a group of teenagers who were allegedly smoking marijuana in corner M.J. Cuenco Ave. and T. Padilla St.

Three of the teenagers were arrested.

Chief Insp. Aileen Recla, head of Parian Police Station, identified the one of the suspects as Bander Dela Cruz, 18, of Villagonzalo II, Barangay Tejero.

The other suspects' names are withheld since they are minors.

Recla, in an interview, said they received a report about a group that was suspiciously gathering in the area.

Two hours later, operatives of Cebu City Police Office's City Intelligence Branch (CIB) arrested a suspected big-time female drug pusher in a buy-bust in Sitio Itom Yuta, Barangay Lorega-San Miguel.

Confiscated from Marivic Himulatan, 47, was large pack of shabu worth P25,000.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, head of CIB, told Sun.Star Cebu they received a report about Himulatan's alleged illegal activity early this month. They then conducted surveillance for a week.

A poseur buyer bought three small sachets of shabu from Himulatan.

When the suspect handed over the drugs to the decoy, she was arrested.

Santander said the suspect's husband was also arrested before for the same offense.

At 9:55 p.m., the suspect's 28-year-old daughter Debie reportedly went wild after learning of her mother's arrest. She was also arrested.

"Nag-wild siya unya among gi-alarma. Nakit-an man siya nga naa'y shabung gidala (The daughter was also carrying shabu)," Santander said.

The young Himulatan was recovered with a small-sachet of suspected shabu.

Complaints for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the six suspects today.
