A Vallejo rapper accused of leading an Ecstasy drug ring connected with a record label has been arrested in Las Vegas, federal prosecutors said Thursday.
Michael Lott, who performs as Miami the Most, was one of more than two dozen people charged in April with distributing Ecstasy and other drugs. He was arrested Wednesday and will be brought to Sacramento for further proceedings, authorities said.
Prosecutors said the defendants were rappers and associates of Thizz Entertainment, a label started by rap artist Andre "Mac Dre" Hicks, who was shot to death in 2004.
Agent Brian Nehring of the Drug Enforcement Administration said in a sworn declaration accompanying the charges that Thizz is a slang term for MDMA, or Ecstasy, and many of the label's rap lyrics "glorify and promote the use and distribution of MDMA pills." Lott became a co-leader of the label after Hicks' death, said Nehring, who referred to the drug ring as Lott's trafficking organization.
Prosecutors said the drugs were mostly sold in Vallejo's Crest neighborhood, but some defendants were arrested in Los Angeles, Oklahoma City and New York. Lott is also charged with distributing crack cocaine and heroin. Among those still being sought is rapper Bruce "Little Bruce" Thurman, prosecutors said.
