National Freedom Party (NFP) president Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi says she will go all out in preaching peace in the province. This after a violence spat at the KwaMashu hostel following the death of Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) councillor Themba Xulu.

She was speaking in Durban where she was welcoming over 100 new members into her party. KaMagwaza-Msibi says she has called on IFP president Mangosuthu Buthelezi to host a joint rally between the two parties. She says the IFP leadership has not responded to her invitation.

"It is very sad and very unfortunate that the leadership of the IFP has seen no urgency in us going all out to ensure that we preach peace and reconciliation to our members, we have lost more than 27 members since the establishment of the NFP but since then we have been preaching to our people that they should not reiterate and that they should allow the law to take its course."

Last week two NFP councillors appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court, charged with killing two IFP supporters in separate attacks. NFP councillor Bhungu Gwala and his sons appeared briefly on a murder charge and his bail application will take place this week.

Councillor, Mzonjani Zulu also appeared briefly last week for allegedly shooting IFP supporter Siya Dlamini. He was shot dead in front of police last Monday.

Police have been castigated for failing to prevent the murder of Dlamini. A probe is now underway.
