SF College student arrested in drug sting - Gainesville Sun

Charles Anthony Lacotera, 25, of 4000 SW 23rd St., was arrested and charged with numerous felonies and misdemeanors including possession of marijuana over 20 grams, selling near a college, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. Gainesville Police Department Sgt. Tscharna Senn said the bust was fortuitous for the task force.

"Law enforcement likes to take guns out of the hands of bad people," Senn said, "and in doing this search, we not only confiscated drugs — which we were looking for — but also got a gun off the streets."

According to a report, the arrest happened at around 10 a.m. at 118 NW 19th St., which is near the University of Florida campus.

The task force met with a confidential source, the report said, and the source arranged a purchase of a quarter pound of cannabis from Lacotera.

The task force gave the informant $1,000, the report said, and monitored the source through audio and video equipment.

The source drove to the house, conducted the transaction with Lacotera, and then met with officers and handed them a large bag of marijuana, weighing approximately 123.8 grams. In addition to the drugs, officers also found a pistol, Senn said.

Lacotera was in the Alachua County jail as of Friday afternoon.
