4 arrested

at suspected drug house

Four people were arrested, and heroin and psilocybin mushrooms seized, by Monterey police serving a search warrant at a Larkin Street "drug house" Thursday.

Justin Kelly, 24, and Sarah Boffemmeyer, 23, were arrested about 4:30 p.m. at their residence on the 400 block of Larkin Street, police said. Samer Alwahab, 30, and Steven Shortt, 19, both of Monterey, were also arrested.

Kelly was arrested for possession of heroin for sale and mushrooms, possession of metal knuckles and resisting arrest, police said, while Boffemmeyer was arrested for being under the influence of heroin. Both are facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug house, police said.

Alwahab was arrested for possession of heroin, and both he and Shortt face charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and being at a location where drugs are used and sold, police said.

All four were booked into Monterey city jail, where Kelly was being held on $30,000 bail. Boffemmeyer posted a $10,000 bond, and Alwahab and Shortt were released on a promise to appear in court, police said.
