Drug arrest takes place in Oviedo's Kingsbridge - Seminole Chronicle

By Jessica J. Saggio | February 13, 2013

After multiple encounters with police, a man in the Kingsbridge neighborhood in Oviedo has been arrested after a team of police officers searched his home.

Ronald Dotson, 53, a resident on North Lake Claire Circle in the Kingsbridge neighborhood, has been the subject in multiple arrests in the past few months. But on Wednesday, police searched the house and found enough drugs and drug paraphernalia to land him in jail without bond.

The Oviedo Police Department Community Response Team executed a search warrant at Ronald Dotson's residence. The team found drugs throughout several rooms in the home, a report states. Ronald Dotson, Robin Dotson, 19, and an unnamed juvenile were present during the police's search of the home.

Inside Ronald Dotson's bedroom, police discovered a small amount of cocaine in a clear, plastic bag along with three pills. One of the pills appeared to be Ecstasy, the report states, but has been sent out for testing. The other two pills were identified as clonazepam schedule IV and dextroamphetamine schedule II. Both medications, according to the Food and Drug Administration, are prescription narcotics. Ronald Dotson couldn't provide a prescription for either.

Additionally, police found a cannabis grinder with cannabis inside, a cannabis rolling machine, two bongs, an electronic scale, a metal smoking device and a vapor machine. Both the vapor machine and metal smoking device contained cannabis residue.

Along with these items, small clear plastic bags were found bundled, which the report states may have been for distributing cannabis.

A search of Robin Dotson's residence revealed a small stash of cannabis as well.

No drugs or paraphernalia were found in the juvenile's bedroom, but the proximity and nature of the offense called for a charge of child neglect against Ronald Dotson.

Robin Dotson was arrested on charges of drug equipment or possession, renting or owning a structure for trafficking, possession of not more than 20 grams and the selling of marijuana schedule I. Robin Dotson has since bailed out of jail and awaits an arraignment on March 26.

Ronald Dotson was arrested on charges of drug possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, possession of drug equipment, possession of a controlled substance without prescription and child neglect without great harm.

This is not the first time Ronald Dotson has been in trouble with the law. He was recently arrested and is still waiting adjudication for a charge from SCSO's child sex offender sting. Ronald Dotson was arrested on counts of obscene communication and child exploitation.

Prior to that arrest, Ronald Dotson was involved with an incident at his home on Lake Claire Circle that involved a murder attempt and the sale of cocaine. Ronald Dotson was not arrested for that incident, but did suffer from several deep lacerations along his forehead and on top of his head.

Dotson's criminal dockets also reveal arrests for battery and domestic violence in 2002 and a harassing phone call, which occurred in 2003. Dotson was put on probation for the harassing phone call incident in 2003. He also was put on a diversion program for his charge of battery and domestic violence, which he completed in 2003.

While the incident shook up some residents in the Kingsbridge West neighborhood, Lt. Mike Beavers of the Oviedo Police Department said the area is otherwise relatively quiet. Data collected from 2012 shows 19 incidents occurred in the neighborhood ranging from economic crime to theft and battery. A majority, however, involved theft.
