2 Howard County people killed in accident, deer involved - Today's THV

NASHVILLE, Ark. (KTHV) - The drive to school and work Thursday morning turned into a tragedy for a Howard County family.

Two people, 59-year-old Glen Johnson and his wife, 61-year-old Margaret Johnson, were killed and their two grandchildren were injured when a deer went through their car's windshield, causing the vehicle to run into a building.

Police said another vehicle was traveling north on Highway 27 when it hit a deer. The deer then went airborne and hit Johnson's windshield.

The initial crash report indicated that Johnson lost control and ran into Parrish Family Equipment Company. Only one person was in the building when the crash occurred; she was uninjured.

"...There were rocks every on the driver. The passenger in the front seat was slumped over. The little boy was trying to get out fo the car, and the deer was still kicking in the back...,"said Kerry Reed.

Arkansas State Police are still investigating the accident.

Both Glenn and Margaret Johnson were employed at the Mineral Spring School-the same school district their grandchildren, ages 10 and 8, attended.
