The Kelowna RCMP broke up a couple of drug deals on Friday night, removing a significant amount of illegal drugs from the streets in the process.
The Kelowna RCMP Property/Target teams and General G.I. Section reports using the Police Dog services after two men with First Nations gang affiliations were located in the downtown core of Kelowna doing a drug transaction.
The pair were arrested around 6:00 p.m. Friday and are being held in custody on drug trafficking charges.
Around an hour later, officers conducting surveillance at a local motel arrested two men after observing the pair conducting drug transactions.
Officers approached and found one of the men had an outstanding warrant and was in possession of Heroin. The subsequent search of his motel room led to more serious charges.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators say they found approximately $13,000 worth of Methamphetamine and Heroin, $5,550 in cash, and stolen property.
Two charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and two charges of Trafficking have been laid against Mark Banman, who will remain in custody until his first court appearance on Monday, October 22.
Friday's sweep also led to the arrest of a female who police say was in the same area to purchase drugs.
She was arrested on an outstanding warrant then later released from custody with a future court date.
